Harvard’s psychology department is full of interns in the summer. This program connects interns across labs with social events, a weekly journal club, and special programming on all things science, research, and academia. Interns are also encouraged to give a 5min presentation on their research plans att eh beginning of the summer, and a 10min presentation on their research findings at the end.

These events, the slack channel, etc., are for ALL INTERNS working in the Harvard Psychology department this summer!!!

Please note that the scheduling of some events is still in flux and may change. Also, if you’d like to volunteer to host or add something, by all means, let me know! (Email Fiery at cushman@fas.harvard.edu).

Intern slack channel: Login here. (Email cushman@fas.harvard.edu if you need to be added to this space).

πŸ“„ Journal club: The journal club will meet weekly. Each week is hosted by a senior researcher who will assign 1-2 papers in advance as readings. These are often their own articles. They will then lead a discussion of 60-90 minutes over a brown bag lunch (bring our own). These will be held in the 14th floor seminar room in William James Hall. Although we understand if you have a to miss one or two (and, of course, if you arrive later in the summer or leave early), we encourage those interested in the journal club to please attend all meetings for continuity. Links to articles will be provided at this website.

πŸ§‘β€πŸ« Workshops: There are a variety of special events designed for academic and professional development throughout the summer. Unless otherwise noted these will be held in the 14th floor seminar room.

πŸ₯³ Social events! Come hang out! We have several fun social events planned throughout the summer.

πŸ—£ Intern presentations: At the beginning of the summer we encourage all interns to give a 5 minute presentation on the project they’ll be working on. Towards the end of the summer we’ll hear 10 minute presentations on your research findings, followed by a happy hour.

Also note that the Laboratory for Developmental Studies (LDS) is a group of three labs that have a dedicated summer internship program of their own, but also join many of our events, and invite us to theirs. You’ll see three LDS events listed below. I’ll provide precise times and dates for those soon.
